Fire Department Auxiliary

The purpose of the Auxiliary is to support the Town of Round Lake Volunteer Fire Department in any way we can.  Anyone, man or woman, can be a member of the Auxiliary.  There are no dues and we meet twice a year, or as needed.

The main way the Auxiliary supports the Fire Department is raising money to help purchase the equipment it needs.  This money is raised in three ways – donations, cash raffle, and the Moose Lake Festival, aka the Fire Department Picnic.   Cash Raffle Tickets will be available at the Open House on June 8 at the Town Hall, the Moose Lake Festival, the Recycling Center on Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 8:00 am to Noon, beginning June 8 and ending July 31 and at many businesses in the Town of Round Lake as well as some neighboring establishments.  The tickets will sell for $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00.  The purchase of a ticket(s) will give you a chance to win cash prizes of $500.00, $200.00, or $100.00.  The drawing for these “Grand Prizes” will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016, between 5:00 and 6:00 PM, during the Moose Lake Festival.  Winners will be notified and receive their prizes by mail.  You need not be present to win.  All of the proceeds of these ticket sales no matter where they are purchased go ONLY to the Town of Round Lake Fire Department.  If anyone would be interested in helping to sell additional tickets, please contact one of the officers listed below.  It would be most appreciated!

In the past few years, with the help of the residents of the Town of Round Lake, the Auxiliary has helped purchase and outfit a new equipment truck, a fill site truck, and a UTV to be used for off-road search and rescue and for fighting wildfires.  Last year, proceeds from the fundraising were used to retrofit the UTV to turn it into a state of the art search and rescue vehicle as well as to purchase a trailer for transportation.  Our goal this year is to raise the necessary funds to add a conversion slide to the UTV for fighting wildfires and to retrofit the UTV trailer for custom mounting of both rescue and wildfire slide-ins so that both slide-ins will be on the trailer at all times. Additionally, we hope to raise enough money to be able to purchase 7 individual GPS units for all fire trucks for quicker emergency response times.  These GPS units would be programmed the same as our Unit 6 Ambulance for faster, more accurate address locations, helicopter landing sites, and all dry hydrant lakeside fill sites.

We would like to remind everyone that the last three vehicles (the equipment truck, the fill site truck, and the UTV) were paid for completely by funds raised with your help.  Not one cent of tax money was used.  This is amazing and makes our Fire Department the envy of all of the other Fire Departments in Sawyer County.  Of course, this could not have been accomplished with out your help!

But the Auxiliary is about more than raising money.  We assist the Fire Department personnel in the line of duty, when needed.  For example, we can be called out by the Sheriff’s dispatch to bring water and food to our personnel, if they are at a major emergency scene.  We also assist victims of fire in our town, by seeing that they have a place to stay, giving them emergency funds, clothing, and whatever they need to make it through the first few days.

Being a member of the Auxiliary is a wonderful way to help our town, our neighbors, and our fire department.  Not everyone is cut out to be an active member of the fire department, but everyone can be part of the Auxiliary and feel like they are making a very important contribution.
